It's a long day

Was informed by my teamlead that one of my colleague has resigned & she was asking if I was interested to take over his role. Don't really have time to think but I accepted it cos it would be something different & more challenging. Furthermore, with globalisation just round the corner, wouldn't it be nice for me to take on the challenge & make myself more "marketable"? Hopefully I can keep my rice bowl when the time comes.

A pleasant surprise from Linda, she bought me a cinnamon swirl for breakfast as it is going to be a long day today cos it is monthend support again! True enough, left office about 10pm after receiving confirmation from my countries that they have closed everything while other colleagues (whom supported ASEAN & GCG) still stay on - probably to 2359 again.

To celebrate Allyson's birthday?

Allyson's birthday is approaching & I was thinking should I celebrate her birthday in school as this will be her last year in the childcare centre as I have registered her for PCF next year. I have noticed great changes in her after joining Carpe Diem, she will read story books, sing or write once she is back from school which she never do so when she was with Learning Vision. She told me she loves her teachers & Uncle George (the centre director), they are very nice to her.

I am really in dilemma should I forgo my deposit & registration fee with PCF & let Allyson continue with Carpe Diem? But I need more funds for Johnson's PSLE preparation next year & really feeling bad for taking away the budget from Allyson's education... but I have to stand firm on my decision in putting Allyson in PCF though the decision to leave Carpe Diem is kind of sad & I really hope Allyson would be able to function well when she is in Primary 1 with PCF (with the fear from Randson's experience at the back of my mind).

A flock of parrots

Nickson saw a flock of parrots with red beaks outside our window. Not sure where they came from but it was a fantastic view.

Yummy mooncakes

It's only the seventh month in the lunar calendar & mooncakes are being promoted in the market now. Bought this from Cynthia & they are really yummy.

There are 6 different flavours in a box :

We tried "golden pandan with black sesame" which is something different from the usual mooncake - it has green pandan lotus paste & dots of black sesame seed filling. Another is "white lotus with red bean walnut single yolk", Allyson ate most of the white lotus paste while I had the red bean, walnut & yolk (I love yolk!). Yummy yummy...

Mum's CT scan report

After the long wait & he was not the specialist whom we have seen - he was the backup as Dr Tan was away on urgent leave.

He told mum that the CT scan report showed a growth in her ovary & kidney & he will refer her to the gynea & urologist as he only specialised in "large intestine" & we were there sitting at the reception waiting to make payment & new appointments with 2 different specialists.

@_@ What's going on?

Old stuff at mum's place - Part 2

12 years ago, this invitation card brought approx. 300 guests to our wedding.

Our old ICs, 4711 cologne (not sure if this is still available in the market), my JC & school librarian badges and Pink Panther pencil case.

Kind of wonderful to find these stuffs which brought back much happy memories.

Old stuff at mum's place - Part 1

Went to mum's place yesterday & found these items in my old cupboard :

I was talking to Jen in the bus about stickers some days ago. During my younger days, I did not have stickers book to keep my stickers, I would kept them in their original packaging & these had gone yellowish after so many years. We were talking about a kind of stickers which we will use pencil to "scratch" it onto the drawings (see picture). Not sure if you had played with this when you are younger?

Found another colouring book that I had, not bad, my colourings were quite well done (lol).

Found these dolls in the storeroom, fm the left - Lisa (was given to us by mum's colleague), little doll with rosy cheeks was made by me during my secondary school day & the small little doll was given by mum's colleague too. They were kind of dirty as they have been living in the storeroom for years. My kids were quite afraid of Lisa as her eyes will blink whenever we move her.

Lots of fun today!!!

1. We started off the day with Morris Allen at Simei, walking around Eastpoint while Randson attending his class. Brought "小白龙" comic books from Popular.

2. Went to the library to return our books & found that the library will only open at 1pm. So loitering around Tampines Central & bought Johnson's reward.

3. Lots of people waiting outside the library about 12.55pm, awaiting its opening.

4. Borrowed tons of books & the boys complained that their bags are so heavy.

5. Reached home, the boys started to play the game. While I busy preparing roti prata, sausages & fried tempura chicken slices for the Starnight cinema starring "Charlotte's web" (the novel which I read in Secondary School for Literature).

6. Took a cab to Fort Canning for the Starnight cinema organised by the Company I am working with.

7. Brought our own floor mat & found the best "seats" for the the movie. While the kids enjoyed the popcorns, candy floss & cold drinks (free flow) & laughing out loudly while watching the movie.

8. Our numbers were not drawn in the lucky draw & they (my kids) shouted "Aiyah" so loudly till the Emcee of the night can hear them from the stage & repeated same.

9. Went home by MRT (didn't know the way to the station but just follow the crowd).

10. End results :

  • Tiring legs (after all the walking for the day)
  • Painful butt (sitting on the hard grass ground for 3 hours)
  • First wonderful experience watching movie under the stars/moon(?).

Comments from the kids :
Johnson - A very touching story (especially Charlotte's death) but some people are not here to watch the movie (referring to the young couple whom were hugging & kissing the whole night with their parents beside them).

Nickson - No comment (he was busy moving up & down to get drinks from the Drink station & he can't wait to reach home asap to play the new PS2 game).

Randson - No comment (but believed he enjoyed the hotdog bread & pop corns).

Allyson - Very tired, I want to sleep.

Mummy - Don't think I'll go for another open air movie unless they provide me with cushions or cushioned chair, the pain is killing me (you know where? If not, please refer to "end results" section)!!!

Johnson got his prize

Johnson scored 60% for any 3 subjects in his DE4 & received his PS2 game as his reward.

Keep it up, boy!

Next target : 70%!!!

(Randson did not hit his target, so no reward for him this round. Work harder!!!)

Trip to IKEA

1. No school today = took leave.

2. Plan to go IKEA & library.

3. Reached IKEA about 2pm & back to Tampines about 4.30pm (too late for library cos got to rush home to prepare dinner).

4. Rushed to NTUC to get the ingredients for the cheese cake.

My Strawberry Cheese cake

Craving for cheese cake & so happened that Johnson borrowed a book on food for kids so I tried making one with the help of my kids.

But they are too busy with their games & no time for the cake.

Sis accompanied mum for the scope & no adnormality was found in her large intestine, got to wait for the CT scan results which will be out on 21 Aug 2007.

Thanks God!!!

Second day with Carpe Diem

Allyson in her new uniform.

Was told by mum that Allyson was laughing away in her sleep last night, she must have an exciting day yesterday.

She is more vocal (singing, talking) after joining Carpe Diem.

First Day with Carpe Diem

Allyson got this toy from Carpe Diem on her first day of school. She must have enjoyed school as she was smiling widely when I picked her up in the evening.
