Whenever the quarterend rush is in, the heat is on... ... provided support for 10 hours each on Sat & Sun!!!

Still in office at this donkey hour & no one could advise the order status & yet communicate through sametime with CAPS on.

When come to dinner time, I was arrowed to place the order & due to a change of menu, people started to shout straight to my face... I didn't make the changes, why don't you shout at your boss??? To remind you, I've paid through my own card, do I have to do so??? Is it my duty to ensure food entered your mouth???

I did the call, just so happened that I am seated near your boss!!! To remind you, we are all colleagues, you got your pay & I got mine through working/slogging for the company, I don't owe you anything. Please mind your language/temper & more good things will come your way!!!

Drama???

Was drama copied from real life or real life repeated the episodes of drama?

My mum was warded to the hospital for 68 days, all these while I was frightened by every phone calls that started with "6321 xxxx". Is either from the nurses, doctors or the business office (not enough funds in mum's medisave).

Mum gone through her spine operation (a major one!!!) on 11 July 2008, the moment she was pushed out of the OT, she was as white as a sheet of paper!!! Luckily she was alright the next day after blood infusion.

She was discharged to St Andrew's for rehab on 29 July 2008 & was warded to SGH again on 1 Aug 2008 due to chest pain & fast heartbeats. She refused to go to SGH however St Andrew's doctor insisted she should go to SGH A&E for a checkup. And we were told she has urine infection the next day.

I really don't understand why??? Urine infection can be so serious & it can't be detected or treated at the Community Hospital?

And for myself was caught with viral infection & my whole body ache like noone's business & was given 2 days medical leave. All I can do is to take the pain killer & lay on the bed, rest rest rest. It seemed like I have to admit I aged before my time, I tried to squat down to find a bottle of garlic bread spread, make me pulled my muscle above my knee & feeling numbness at my ankle area (can't go on medical leave on 30 July) & get to work till 12 midnight on 31 July & the shock of getting to send mum back to SGH on 1 Aug whereby she was only assigned to a bed after midnight & these are killing me.

Things just happened & I have no control over them or do I have a choice? Am I daring enough to stand up & voice out, would it really help??? Is this the right time to do so? I hate MONTH & QUARTEREND!!! I know, this is my job... I knew it!!!

Mum in ICA

We were told that all investigations show negative results & the only outcome is bacteria infection, a kind of bacteria which is found in the mouth is attacking my mum's spine & seemed to be spreading upwards. They put mum on antibiotics. She was alert & stable yesterday as compared to Monday which I was shocked to see her state. And her kidney scan is normal.

Called the nurse this morning, was told there was blood in mum's stools & they will do anus scopy tomorrow. OMG, mum told me that the spicy food (black pepper meat, fish in spicy sauce) she had in the hospital has irritated her, would this causing the blood in her stools?

I was told of different conditions about mum each day & seeing her laying on the bed not able to move with all tubes attached onto her body is tearing me into pieces. With the advanced science & technology, why can't they expediate the treatment? I walked her to the A&E & now I'm seeing her laying on the bed helplessly, am I supposed to console myself that mum is there to do a full body checkup??? They have checked her from top to toe, internally & externally... what else next? Pls discharge my mum soon!!!

After waiting for 7 long days & was told that if I want to meet up with the doctor I have to be at the hospital at 9am.

Rushed to the hospital at 8.45am & the nurse has informed the doctor that I'm there waiting for them. I waited patiently & no sign of the doctor till 9.45am. The volcano is erupting soon, I went to the nurse & get her to call the doctor again & he told the nurse that he didn't make any appointment to see me!!! OMG, I've informed the nurse I'll be there at 9am today to see the doctor as he is unable to call me!!!

Finally he arrived at mum's room & we were told that the result are out & showing that there is no sign of bacteria infection however the most important tissue report is not out yet, it will take 7 days to process!!!

7 days??? We were told 2-3 days & now he is telling us 7 days!!! I really dunno what has happened but today is the 7th day & he assured me that he has chased the lab for the report & this is top priority on his list. But till now, no news/call from the hospital yet.

Not sure what has happened these few days, found myself rushing to the hospital to meet up this & that doctor & the same story was told to me by everyone. Nothing new!!!

Don't we already know what has happened, why can't they just do something to check on mum to see if the tumour is cancerous or beneign and decide what is our next action???

Mum's surgery

Met up with the surgeon this morning & was told that it is not advisable to do the ops today as mum is still having fever.

But the team doctors felt that I'm delaying the treatment for not making a swift decision, OMG, can't both team talk to each other??? Whom am I supposed to listen to???

Finally in the afternoon, they decided to schedule the operation on Monday.

Spoke to Cousin Esther & we suspected that the tumour would have been there for some time as mum used to have problem walking naturally. Perhaps with the surgery she will has less pain ... ...

Went back to office at 3.30pm to support the monthend closing... & luckily all countries closed by 9pm & left home about 10.30pm after I have completed my testing scenarios.

Received a call from the hospital, mum has to undergo a major spinal surgery tomorrow as they found tumour growing into her spine & in order to "save" the nerve, an operation to remove the spinal bone is critical.

OMG, should I agree to it??? Not knowing what kind of risk is involved & why this happened so suddenly???

Gave a call to Cousin Esther & she agreed to go to the hospital with me tomorrow to talk to the doctors. Thank goodness, she's there to help as I'm at a loss.

Received a call from mum this morning, she told me she can't walk at all, her legs are numb & stomach bloated.

I was shocked, she was alright yesterday. I took a cab to the hospital & managed to speak to the doctor & was told that the blood test yesterday show that mum is suffering from a form of joint inflammation (can't remember the scientific name) & they will have to do a MRI for her spine.

Hope mum is alright & stay positive!!!

Mum can walk on her own

Spoke to the doctor & was told that the scope showed that mum is having gastric & they have ruled out cancerous/tumour in her. When asked what about the thing that stuck in her oesophagus??? "We found nothing, sometimes CT scan is not so reliable." - OMG, then what is reliable???

Gave mum a call & she was so happy that she can walk to the toilet on her own as the doctor has removed the oxygen mask & the tubes from her hands. She sound more cheerful now but I can't visit her today as I got to work late.

Received a call from Cousin Ah Mo & he scolded me for not informing him about mum being hospitalised. Mum didn't want me to tell anyone cos she doesn't want to bother others. Luckily he is able to visit mum on my behalf .

The doctor didn't call today, went to check with the nurse & was told that the scope result show that mum is having gastric. Blurred... ... as long mum is alright.

The doctor called to say that mum's CT scan showed that she has phneunomia & they found that something seemed to stuck in mum's oesophagus & they will arrange for scope tomorrow as mum is having fever. Would it be the fishbone???

My mum has been in the hospital for 2 days & I didn’t get to meet any of the doctors. Managed to find out from the nurse yesterday that mum is having urine infection. I’m surprised, will urine infection caused chest pain??? Giving them benefit of doubts.

Received a call from the doctor today & was told that they suspected mum is suffering from bone/muscle infection that leading to the pain. They will refer mum to the general surgeon for them to investigate further.

Called mum in the afternoon & knew that she was not given any food after breakfast & she was not on drip too cos she is going for a CT scan at 6pm.

Reached the hospital at 7.15pm & was surprised that mum has not gone for the scan. The nurse was shocked to see me & explained that there is some delay due to some other urgent cases. Another nurse explained that I can go to foodcourt to get some fruit juice for mum as hospital does not provide this & it would be alright for the patient to go without food/drip. I was shocked!!!

The answer I got from another nurse when I asked why mum was not on drip - “the doctor did not write that when they do their round, I’ll ask the on-call doctor later after her scan”. Would the doctor has forgot about this? Shouldn’t the nurse remind/ask the doctor on this?

Mum was sent for the CT scan at 8pm & when she was back to her bed, the nurse explained that too much water will cause breathlessness hence she is not given the drip.

妈妈第三次入院

第一次是在去年十二月，好害怕。
第二次是在上个月，有点害怕。
这一次，我似乎没有什么感觉了。只要医生能够检验出为什么这一个月来，妈妈会胸口痛，而把他的疼痛解决，我就心满意足了!

还好他的X光没有问题，只是有贫血，必须留院检查。

妈妈一直说胸口痛，到医院检查，医生都说没有事。可是她就是一直说痛，也不能肯定哪里痛，感到绝望。

我能做些什么呢？真是束手无策，我真希望疼痛是在我身，让我来承担一切的痛苦。

While helping Johnson to find out what is the requirement for DSA, I visited my Secondary School’s website & was glad to find my Secondary 1 form teacher teaching in the same school & he won the Caring Teacher Award!!! Congrats, Mr Tan!!!

Not sure if he will remember me if I were to drop him an email (alamak, no email address posted on the website)… he reminded me of Temasek Square (the drain cover where we have to stand if we can’t answer his question).

My kids got their papers yesterday, I was shocked!!! Johnson got a pass for his Science & the rest … …

I gave up talking or nagging at that instant, I do not know what should be the appropriate reaction for that moment, had my dinner, did the minimal housework & headed straight to my bed (I was an ostrich at that very moment).

I refused to think nor talk, I can’t sleep too, I felt that I’m falling, falling into the deepest sea with my whole body relaxing, no struggling… no point crying or had I run out of tears? I believed you did your very best & the papers were really too difficult for your level. I believed in what you (they) told me, what can Mummy do to help??? I guaranteed even if you tell me, more computer games will help you pass your exams, I’ll let you play for 24 hours but please ensure you got good results end of this year (am I trying to sarcastic). Tell me, please spend some time to think about the resources you required!!!

I must be nuts… my kids never visit this blog at all!!!

I have to travel by BMW (bus, MRT, walk) to work after LG quit his job. It took me an hour to reach the office & I hated the journey - everyone's rushing & roads packed with vehicles.

While I was walking across the road, the uncle (security guard) shouted “good morning!” to me & without 2nd thought, I shouted “good morning!” with a wide smile on my face. Wow, uncle remembered me, I greeted him whenever I see him at the building entrance.

After a short distance, I saw the Malay security guard who used to work on night shift, smiling & waving at me through the glass panel. Another smiling face!

Upon arriving the office entrance, I said “good morning” to the guard & he smiled & returned with these 2 words “good morning”!

When I was at my desk, the cleaner aunt said “good morning” to me as she cleared my rubbish bin. Wow, isn’t it great!!!

Just 2 simple words, it really brightened up my boring day/trip!!!

P.S. Rosz told me that I'm a simple & easy contented person. But I just love the feeling of people reciprocate the same greeting we gave them everyday!!!

This is my first visit to the Gym with Eliz & signed up for the day’s boxercise class (first try too). I found myself breathless after 30 mins of jumping & boxing but it was kind of fun especially when my shoe sole came off & I have to exercise with my barefoot (with socks on only).

Appreciation Session

Johnson attended the “Motivational & Skill Improvement Camp” organised by Adam Khoo's team for the past 2 days & today is the last session whereby parents are invited to attend the “Appreciation session”.

Most of the parents or I would say all (including some teachers) cried during the session, it was so touching. Kids were asked to go up to stage to show their appreciation to their parents or apologized to their parents for their misbehaviors & some were not even able to speak up as they were crying.

I really hate that moment... ...

当我看到Johnson跌倒的那一刻，我真的吓了一跳。还好他马上爬起来说没事。

可是当他再爬上两级扶梯时，又摔了一跤。我禁不住喊了出来：” 你还好吧？“他对我笑了，好尴尬的笑。

继续往上爬，可是又再摔跤。”你还好吧？为什么一直跌倒？有受伤吗？“哈哈哈，他直对我傻笑。妈妈知道你一定很痛，那是铁制的扶梯啊! 为什么不开动呢？是为了省电吗？心里真的好恨商场管理处。。。我的心也跟着他的每一跌，沉了下去。好痛好痛，我真正明白什么是打在儿身，痛在我心，我好怕好怕，我根本没有办法帮他(因为我用楼梯，他用没开动的扶梯)，只能睁着眼看着他跌了一次又一次。那种爱莫能助的感受，我真的快疯掉了!

到达了百力果，马上查看Johnson的伤势 - 擦破了右膝盖，左膝盖也红了，手指也擦伤了。妈妈好心痛，一定很痛很痛，可是妈妈知道你好勇敢，一直说不痛不痛，没事没事。你真的长大了!

Wendy (my 9th floor neighbour) has offered to coach Randson this year, I really appreciated it. But she was away to teach the students to make flowers in school so Randson escaped the coaching yesterday.

I was surprised to receive a call from Randson today, telling me that he would like to go upstairs to Wendy’s house as he needed help for his homework & he knew that I have to work late today. What a relief, after all my son is still a keen learner, keep it up!!!

P.S. Wendy whom is a parent volunteer & she offered to coach Randson since last year. Thank you very much Wendy!!! She’s a rare GEM!

Wanted to start a new Year 2008 blog but don't really have the time. Decided to continue from here with a new counter in place.

Last day of Year 2007

I didn’t get to watch Countdown on television this year as we were struggling in the office to get all the orders loaded.

When Roy told us it was the last 10 seconds to 12 midnight, we (Ros, Roy & myself) shouted “10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 Happy New Year” at our desks.

And only after we shouted “Happy New Year” , the OAs clapped & shouted same (You can see how tensed our colleagues are at this time)!!!

After that, we have a round of red, white wine, sprinkling juice, photo taking sessions & wishing everyone :

HAPPY NEW YEAR & a great year ahead!!!

Mild Stroke

“Hello Lilian, your mum has just came to see me & we suspect she is suffering from mild stroke. Please bring her to the hospital immediately.”

OMG, what should I do, what happened? I tried to stay calm but my tears started to roll… nothing is going to happen, mum is alright, I shouldn’t cry in front of her.

I hated the unknown fear of the mild stroke, gave another call to the GP & he explained rhat stroke,is either caused by internal bleeding or a blockage of the blood vessel. If it is a blockage, mum will be able to recover fast & if it is internal bleeding, then this is more serious. Explained same to mum & she looked calm (I know she is stronger than me).

At A&E, mum was sent for ECG & was pushed (on bed) to the consultation area. OMG, my tears rolled again. The waiting time was torturing & Nickson asked, “Mummy, why are you crying?” “Mummy is worried, Mummy is scared, Mummy don’t know what happened to Ah Ma, don’t know if she is ok.”

Finally the doctor came & told me that Mum was alright but they have to admit her for a day to do a CT scan (head)… upon hearing this I started to smile, what a RELIEF!!!

Thanks God, it’s over!!! Mum get well soon!!!

Received Tai-ge’s Christmas greeting at 4.26am this morning, alamak, why is he not sleeping at this time? Is he having sleepless night just like me?

Woke up at about 8.30am, not sure what to do cos got to get back to office at 2pm - updating my handphone contact list & watching TV at the same time.

Went back to office at 2pm & started to work, work, work & work…left office about 9pm & have to be back to office again at 8.30am. Am I not a hamster on the wheel???

Black Pepper Crab

1. Madelene offered black pepper crackers to me on Friday & told me that it tasted like black pepper crab. I told her, “yes, it has been a long time I have not taken any black pepper crab but having lots of craps at work.” Alan (the temp) heard this & laughed out loud.

2. Was watching a Tamil program on TV yesterday & the hosts were going around Singapore looking for yummy “crabs” – chilli crabs, black pepper crabs, butter crabs etc. I told my kids, it has been a long time I have not eaten any crab.

Here I am eating black pepper crab… … yum yum yum!!! LG bought it & he didn’t know about the above!!! 一切尽在不言中。

Wow, this is a very stressful week backing my colleague whom is away for 1 week's leave - I was loaded with orders, queries & meetings. And mum has been complaining that her leg feeling pain & numb. Anyway TGIF... ... next week will be my turn to go on leave... just like my colleague, both of us got to clear our leaves & I'll be back to office on Friday.

Balloon painting

Saw this balloon last week when Allyson brought it back from the childcare & was surprised that she painted it with multiply colours today.

When I asked her why 1 section of it was not coloured, she looked at Nickson & asked, "Er-ge, when you want to colour for me?"

Funtasia@Fort Canning Green

Another outing – family day organized by the company I’m working with. Johnson started to “nag” when I told him we were to leave home at 2pm to attend Funtasia cos he would rather stayed home & played computer games. It was kind of sad, why can’t we leave home happily for all outings???

We arrived at City Hall MRT station to take the shuttle bus to Fort Canning & upon arriving, the kids were saying “huh, this place again?”, this is where we watched “Charlotte’s Web” previously.

We started off by collecting our door gift & we saw a long queue at the Wax Hand store, so we decided to join the queue, aren’t our hands colourful???

The Early Bird draw started at 4pm & I heard my number being called when I was making my left wax hand. I wasn’t paying attention, till the host say “8034, 1st call, 8034 2nd call…”, then I realized it was my number, I ran all the way out to the middle of the field & with my hand being wax & shouted, “it’s me, it’s me, wait wait.” pointing at my waxed hand. The host laughed & said, “oh, you are making wax hand, ok, we will hold on to your gift & you can come back later.” I must have embarrassed myself cos I really don’t know what to do, the wax has dried up on my hand & I felt it was hard. Luckily after soaking in the wax mixture, they are able to removed my “Wax hand” & I went up the stage to collect my gift (a $100 World of Sport Voucher) & took a photo with our Country Manager.

After that, we went to the snack stores & helped ourselves with popcorns, home made ice cream, bbq chicken stay, jumbo otah otah, cheesy hotdogs, honey baked drumlets, fish nuggets, baby coconut drink, tutu kuteh & cup corn. Though it was raining, the kids enjoyed the snacks without any complaints.

The whole afternoon/evening, we were entertained by magical show, belly dance, drumatics, band & fireflys performances. My kids were not interested in the performance so we went to queue for our dinner & luckily the rain stopped at this time. After having our dinner, we started to explore the Games store & won some compasses, glue, liquid paper, etc.

Then Cynthia suggested that we go for face painting but the queue was too long, so I decided to go for airbrush tattoo with Allyson & he chose the butterfly design while I took the rose design. Heehee, once we got our tattoo done, Cynthia is still queuing for the face painting.

So Allyson & myself went over to the Kids’ corner with Oi Lin, Nicole & Natasha to do some crafts while the boys were still at the game store.

As usual no luck for the Grand Draw & the program ended at 8pm sharp.

Mum told me, “我没有白疼他。"

I believed Johnson has understood what I have been trying to explain to him about being filial to Grandma cos she is getting old & in order to apologise to Grandma (not in words for his misbehaviour yesterday), he bought a bottle of Mum's favourite Wheatgrass drink for her & telling her that, she has not been drinking this lately.

I felt my kids knew what my mum like & dislike more than me... ...

Giant Tampines

I planned to bring the kids to Snow City today but it was raining the whole morning, so I decided to bring them (including mum) to Giant Tampines cos I knew mum has never been there.

Johnson was unhappy with the arrangement & he kept complaining about how long we have to wait for the bus, wasting his time, etc. I knew this is the 2nd time I brought them there & he felt that it was boring & it was no difference from going to Shop n Save except taking the shuttle bus. I asked him to put himself in Mum’s shoe, if his son wanted to bring him to a place where he never been to & his grandchildren were unhappy with the arrangement, how would he feel? He told me, it is ok. No, I knew it will not be, if he is at that age now.

Anyway, the kids bought lots of their favourite tidbits & they have a good time munching them after that.

Enchanted

"Enchanted”- is the 2nd movie I watched with my kids & mum. Everyone were excited prior to the screening. It started with cartoon then into real life & the “Princess” was beautiful… I believed every girl would dream of being a Princess including my little girl. Have I ever dreamed of being a Princess??? I really can’t remember, I knew I’m Cinderella without a fairy godmother.

After the movie, we went Pizza Hut for early dinner cos mum & my kids loved pizza. No matter what they love or like, I’ll try to fulfill their wish.

Hope all of you have a good time though it was raining non-stop today!!!

No time for Mapling

I find myself having less & less time to play Maple Story or in fact I have lost interest in the game. It seemed like it was getting harder & harder to level up & my kids were into other games like Get Amped, Wolf Team, Pokemon, Neopets, etc.

The Guild I used to join has 30+ people but now left with 11, the Guild leader suggested we disbanded the guild & invite us to join his friend's guild. Most of the people I knew have left, perhaps for other games & some left cos their accounts have been hacked by others.

OMG, I found several white hairs on my head!!! How how how??? I'm ageing...poor eye sight & with white hairs.

Busy & sleepy day

See I'm awake at 7am cos Randson has class at 9am.

We went to Giant Tampines for some shopping (actually just to get a phone) then we were back home about 3pm (sleeping time again)!!!

Woke up at 5pm to get ready for the wedding dinner, LG was back at this time. We left home at about 6.15pm & I was puzzled why so early??? Dinner only started at 7.30pm. True enough, highways were jammed, including Orchard Road. We reached Orchard Parade Hotel at about 7.45pm & were glad to see all my aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews (some of them was the first time I see them). There are too many of us around, don't think our kids will get to know each other as my mum has 1 eldest brother & 10 sisters. My uncle has 2 sons while the rest of aunts on average each has 3 kids & each of these cousins might have 2 - 4 kids. OMG, I'm not good in Maths...furthermore, some of my nieces or nephews were about my age & some were already married & have kids. We are such a big family
I drank quite alot of red wine & feel tipsy but I'm alright (blaming the waitress for refilling my glass too frequently)!!! And the dinner ended at about 11pm, the roads were jammed again, but we have a good look at the Christmas decorations along Orchard Road (how come this year's decoration is the same throughout the long stretch of road???).
