Funtasia@Fort Canning Green

Another outing – family day organized by the company I’m working with. Johnson started to “nag” when I told him we were to leave home at 2pm to attend Funtasia cos he would rather stayed home & played computer games. It was kind of sad, why can’t we leave home happily for all outings???

We arrived at City Hall MRT station to take the shuttle bus to Fort Canning & upon arriving, the kids were saying “huh, this place again?”, this is where we watched “Charlotte’s Web” previously.

We started off by collecting our door gift & we saw a long queue at the Wax Hand store, so we decided to join the queue, aren’t our hands colourful???

The Early Bird draw started at 4pm & I heard my number being called when I was making my left wax hand. I wasn’t paying attention, till the host say “8034, 1st call, 8034 2nd call…”, then I realized it was my number, I ran all the way out to the middle of the field & with my hand being wax & shouted, “it’s me, it’s me, wait wait.” pointing at my waxed hand. The host laughed & said, “oh, you are making wax hand, ok, we will hold on to your gift & you can come back later.” I must have embarrassed myself cos I really don’t know what to do, the wax has dried up on my hand & I felt it was hard. Luckily after soaking in the wax mixture, they are able to removed my “Wax hand” & I went up the stage to collect my gift (a $100 World of Sport Voucher) & took a photo with our Country Manager.

After that, we went to the snack stores & helped ourselves with popcorns, home made ice cream, bbq chicken stay, jumbo otah otah, cheesy hotdogs, honey baked drumlets, fish nuggets, baby coconut drink, tutu kuteh & cup corn. Though it was raining, the kids enjoyed the snacks without any complaints.

The whole afternoon/evening, we were entertained by magical show, belly dance, drumatics, band & fireflys performances. My kids were not interested in the performance so we went to queue for our dinner & luckily the rain stopped at this time. After having our dinner, we started to explore the Games store & won some compasses, glue, liquid paper, etc.

Then Cynthia suggested that we go for face painting but the queue was too long, so I decided to go for airbrush tattoo with Allyson & he chose the butterfly design while I took the rose design. Heehee, once we got our tattoo done, Cynthia is still queuing for the face painting.

So Allyson & myself went over to the Kids’ corner with Oi Lin, Nicole & Natasha to do some crafts while the boys were still at the game store.

As usual no luck for the Grand Draw & the program ended at 8pm sharp.

Giant Tampines

I planned to bring the kids to Snow City today but it was raining the whole morning, so I decided to bring them (including mum) to Giant Tampines cos I knew mum has never been there.

Johnson was unhappy with the arrangement & he kept complaining about how long we have to wait for the bus, wasting his time, etc. I knew this is the 2nd time I brought them there & he felt that it was boring & it was no difference from going to Shop n Save except taking the shuttle bus. I asked him to put himself in Mum’s shoe, if his son wanted to bring him to a place where he never been to & his grandchildren were unhappy with the arrangement, how would he feel? He told me, it is ok. No, I knew it will not be, if he is at that age now.

Anyway, the kids bought lots of their favourite tidbits & they have a good time munching them after that.

Enchanted

"Enchanted”- is the 2nd movie I watched with my kids & mum. Everyone were excited prior to the screening. It started with cartoon then into real life & the “Princess” was beautiful… I believed every girl would dream of being a Princess including my little girl. Have I ever dreamed of being a Princess??? I really can’t remember, I knew I’m Cinderella without a fairy godmother.

After the movie, we went Pizza Hut for early dinner cos mum & my kids loved pizza. No matter what they love or like, I’ll try to fulfill their wish.

Hope all of you have a good time though it was raining non-stop today!!!

I knew Allyson enjoyed herself!!!

Busy & sleepy day

See I'm awake at 7am cos Randson has class at 9am.

We went to Giant Tampines for some shopping (actually just to get a phone) then we were back home about 3pm (sleeping time again)!!!

Woke up at 5pm to get ready for the wedding dinner, LG was back at this time. We left home at about 6.15pm & I was puzzled why so early??? Dinner only started at 7.30pm. True enough, highways were jammed, including Orchard Road. We reached Orchard Parade Hotel at about 7.45pm & were glad to see all my aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews (some of them was the first time I see them). There are too many of us around, don't think our kids will get to know each other as my mum has 1 eldest brother & 10 sisters. My uncle has 2 sons while the rest of aunts on average each has 3 kids & each of these cousins might have 2 - 4 kids. OMG, I'm not good in Maths...furthermore, some of my nieces or nephews were about my age & some were already married & have kids. We are such a big family
I drank quite alot of red wine & feel tipsy but I'm alright (blaming the waitress for refilling my glass too frequently)!!! And the dinner ended at about 11pm, the roads were jammed again, but we have a good look at the Christmas decorations along Orchard Road (how come this year's decoration is the same throughout the long stretch of road???).

Trip to Asian Civilisation Museum

Happy Children Day!!!

Brought my kids to Asian Civilisation Museum at Empress Place & it was a scary experience there. We started off by visiting Level 2 & there was a group of Tourist & their guide is explaining to them about the display. When we reached the "China section", there were 2 huge (huge!) statues of the Hell Gods & these really frightened my kids. So we left the room & proceed to Level 3.

We walked into the SE Asia room & were surprised that there was no one & a kind of eerie feeling came into us & we were so scare (of cos I tried to stay calm) that we found the nearest exit & walked down the stairs, upon reaching Level 1 we found that it was an emergency exit & if we forced open the door, the alarm will ring & at the same time, my handphone rang (alamak who call me at this time??? It was my colleague & he wanted to tell me about the reorg...but this is not the right time to talk). We ran up to Level 2 & exit through the main staircases & had a good rest at the lobby. Hiaz, I think it is not a good idea to bring young kids to the museum where they have scary thoughts of the things they looked at (esp when we first reach the place, we heard a boy telling his mother that it is so scary & my kids started to ask me, "Mummy, is it scary in there?"), though I have reassured them that these are displays & there is nothing to worry about... ...

After all the excitement, we took a walk to the Esplanade Park & took some pictures there & left for home.

"Aiyah, so lame, must well stay at home to play computer..." - commented by the kids. My effort wasted??? Hope not, at least they knew what is in Asian Civilisation Museum.

One full day at East Coast

My kids were telling me that Daddy will bring them to the beach the next day & they have packed their bags & will have to wake up at 8am tomorrow morning when I reached home about 11 pm yesterday.

We woke up about 9.45am (too tired) & LG got his lorry ready waiting for us downstairs. We went to MacDonald to get our breakfast & had it on the lorry while LG prepared his baits & traps for the crab. Then we proceeded to the beach & built our sandcastles (initially we are not allowed to play in the water - instructed by LG).

I told myself, I'm going to enjoy myself today!!! So I made more crab models compared to last week & we built a not-so-alike sandcastle (compared to the one which the boy built not far away from us).

We were quite bored after sometimes & LG gave the instructions that we could start playing in the water, the kids were so happy that they rushed towards the sea & have a wonderful time.

So I took a rest under the shade, I wanted to join them but I have my wallet & handphone with me so I couldn't join in the fun (what a letdown).

LG finally caught a crab after the long wait - but he didn't cook for me when we reached home & we left it in the pail for mum to handle it tomorrow. Though no crab, I have the chance to play in the water cos LG helped me to hold on to my wallet & handphone. We had a great time, the kids were so happy that Mummy was playing with them & they kept pouring seawater onto my head.

Allyson was feeling cold, so we decided to take our bath & LG went to buy chicken rice for us. Yummy, eating under the trees & by the sea.

After eating the kids must be tired so they laid down on the mat & take a good rest. But to my surprise, the next moment, they decided to play football & they were so energatic & started running around again (think I am getting old). So I just sit there & watched them playing.

We left the beach at about 6pm with the crab in the pail.

Upon reaching home, we could feel our skins were "burning". We looked like lobsters & non of them complain pain except me, I am sunburnt, badly burnt!!! (Not fair this is the first time I played with sea water & I was punished badly by the Sun - just joking. Partly my fault too cos I didn't get any sun tan lotion for my kids & myself.)

Anyway, the pain is nothing compared to the FUN & LAUGHTER we had today!!!

Went to the beach

We went to the beach after our usual lunch at Changi Village coffeeshop. Upon reaching there, the kids were so eager to rush down to the seaside & playing with the waves.

We found a shady spot & I managed to build sandcastles with Allyson, however it was unsuccessful. So I decided to make some "sand crabs & aeroplane", nice?

After taking this shot, the rain started to pour... ... hiaz what a day??? This ended our trip to the beach.

P.S. First time I have chance playing sands with my kids & it ended so fast because of the rain, I will be back!!!

Cockles & Stingray for dinner - part 2

You are not seeing double, we were at Changi Village hawker centre again. Having the same dishes - cockles, mussels, stingray, fried egg with prawn, vegetable (kangkong - only difference) & assorted fruit juice.

Then we had durians for supper again!
These are our favourite food & fruits & we will never get tired of them... lol... a greedy family.

Cockles & Stingray for dinner

Yummy yummy, Nickson fallen deeply in love with cockles while Johnson loved stingray. So we have our dinner at the Changi Village hawker centre with cockles, stingray, mussels, seafood fried eggs, vegetable (sweet potato leaves) & a glass of assorted fruit juice!!!

After dinner, we celebrated Daddy's birthday & we had durians for supper!

Trip to Science Centre

Daddy brought us to Science Centre this afternoon, the kids were so eager to play at the Water Works & were impatient when we were walking/looking around within the Science Centre premises.

This was the second time we visited the Water Works & it was very crowded. Did not capture any pictures at the Water Works as my digital camera failed to capture outdoor photos... sad.

Trip to Haw Par Villa (虎豹别墅)

We planned to go Haw Par Villa today but it started to rain in the morning, were quite worried but luckily the rain stopped about 12 noon.

We took a train to Buona Vista & from there we were supposed to take Bus 200 to Haw Par Villa. We waited at the wrong bus stop & have to go all the way back to the MRT station to cross over the bridge to the other side of the road to take the bus. We waited for about 20 mins & there is no sign of Bus 200 & the weather was so warm that the kids started to grumble. So no choice, we took a cab to Haw Par Villa instead.

Upon reaching there, their eyes were wide opened & shouted, "Wow, this is such a big place. We thought it is quite small when Daddy drove past the other day."

We proceeded immediately to the "Ten Courts of Hell" & the kids were amazed by the sculptures there but I believed they were quite fearful of the punishments & Johnson kept on asking, "Mummy, if we do a little bad things & lots of good things, will we be going onto the silver bridge?" Kids don't worry, as long we do good things & not harming others, it would be ok.

Wow, this was the Haw Par brothers' villa & their Tiger car, so big & nice!

We bought a packet of the fish food from the restaurant to feed the fishes & tortoises, they seemed to be extremely hungry. Every fish food that was thrown in was eaten up immediately. Don't think much people visited Haw Par Villa now, my colleagues were asking me, "is it still around?" when I told them I'm going to bring my kids here (sad).

Beautiful memories of the place came into my mind, my grandma, dad & mum when we were here during my younger days. I really regretted, I should have made an effort to remember the stories which they have told me when we walked past every sculptures.

Some of the sculptures situated at the end of the Villa were running down, the painting peeled off & colour faded. By seeing this, my heart really sink... ... Isn't this a good place for us to teach our kids moral values but some of the displays (including those of filial piety) were fenced up due to the Circled line (MRT) constructions. What a disappointment!

This is a photo taken at the toilet, not bad, at least the toilet was well maintained. Btw, didn't know this plant do bear fruits.

Have to take more photos, just in case...

Kids, remembered the "Tae Gong" we saw in Maple Story, he fished without a hook. He is here in Haw Par Villa too.

"Mummy, panda panda, take photo take photo." Allyson shouted.

"I want to see Sumo." Nickson said. But when we were there, he refused to take a photo with the Sumo. However Allyson wanted me to carry her & took a photo with the Sumo, I was thinking, she might be quite scare cos the Sumo was so huge as compared to her size.

Well, the kids must have an enjoyable time here & we took Bus # 10 home & all of them fell asleep in the bus.

"Are you happy today, my lovely babies?"

Playing at the playground

Not sure if they were really tired but when they saw the playground, their eyes were wide open!!!

So this was the "Dinosaurs' playground" which they used to tell me.

Early dinner at Swensons

After visiting Learning Vision we decided to walk around the airport. Johnson requested to have dinner at Swensons. They enjoyed the food & while Swensons were having promotion on "Pirate of the Carribean", Nickson & Allyson decided to wear the bandana.

As usual after eating, they will play with their plates & leftover. We have a mini earthquake & Johnson found that the small piece of dry ice in the bowl blew bubbles after he added some ice-cream into it. Hence he started to add the leftover fresh cream & tomato sauce... ...

Johnson : Nothing to add already.
Randson : Have have.
Allyson (without talking) took the bowl of mayonnaise & having a sly smile on her face.
Johnson happily added in the mayonnaise, the bubbles continued to grow bigger & bigger, just like an erupting volcano.
Johnson : Nothing already.
All of them staring at the lettuce... then Allyson torn some small pieces & decorate on the bowl. Nickson added some chilli flakes to it...

Didn't know I have a team of scientists with me at Swensons.

After that we went to the viewing gallery to look at airplanes but they weren't interested anymore as they were too tired after the whole day outing. So we took a bus home & the kids have a short nap in the bus (didn't know airport is only 2 bus stops away from home). Luckily they woke up before alighting.

Trip to Learning Vision @ Changi Airport

We were invited to visit the Learning Vision at Changi Airport & one way transport was provided. It was so much bigger as compared to the present LV & the works done there are more colourful too (maybe this has to do with the school fee that they paid, was told they charge $650 at Changi Airport as compared to the $560 in St 33).

I believed the kids loved the place very much as it was so much bigger & air-conditioned, however I felt that it will be too cold for Allyson as I can feel the cold underneath my feet when I was walking around the Centre & even in the bathing area, we were able to feel the air-condition.

The kids were more interested with the playground outside the centre & they perspired alot out there. Was told by another parent, it would not be good for kids to play out there & go straight to air-conditioned immediately after outdoor games, hiaz another thumb down.

There was a short meeting with the Operations Manager & was told that most of the things are not finalised yet as they were waiting for our responses as to where we would like to send our children & we have to give them an answer by coming Monday... headache again.

Capture some interesting pics of Allyson in Childcare - Part I

This is the first photo I saw in the website provided by Teacher Ling, the caption was - "??...??.... (no respond)" said Allyson. Another was taken with Caitlin & having similar expression. Are you unhappy in school?

As I went on, finally there were some photos of smiling faces.
Smiling widely with her first best friend, Si Ya (too bad, Si Ya's mother has withdrawn her from the childcare when the fees went up). I was told by Zhou 老师 that both started when they were sleeping side by side during naptime & Si Ya used to speak to Allyson in Mandarin while Allyson would reply in English but both of them were able to communicate & became best friends.

Here's some photos of them going to Sentosa, my poor girl have a fall that day & hurted her knee which she still remembered till this day.

We also brought along some titbits (2 small pkts of potato chips, 1 pkt of chestnuts & 1 small pkt of almond bought from Daiso) & both of us finished them while watching the movie.

This round I really get to see the big big rubbish chute, I walked to the side of it & take a good look. Wow, it is like a dumping hole, all kinds of rubbish inside & of cos the "aroma" of it!!!

NS40 Exhibition

Before going to Tampines Mall to wait for sis & mum, we passed by the NS40 Exhibition & Allyson took a picture with the army tank.

Hearty lunch at Sakae Sushi

Went to Sakae Sushi with sis, brother-in-law & mum to celebrate mum's birthday (sure gain weight, keep on eating).

The kids are so happy as they have not eaten at a Japanese restaurant before but they are more interested in the cold drinks than sushi.
