Being observant ...

Sent Randson to Morris Allen class at 8.30am & had my breakfast at Burger King (all by myself) - still dare not eat alone at the coffeeshop though I'm a mother of 4. It was a different kind of experience this morning, I can have my food all to myself (used to share with Allyson) & sipping my tea while looking at the passer-by. Brought 2 Ratatouille watches (one for Randson & another for Nickson) & a mini doll house for Allyson as Children's Day present. Johnson has asked for an A-cash card, probably I'll get it tomorrow or Monday as I have to rush back to office after Randson's class.

Again, I was back to office at 11.30am after leaving for home at 12.30am this morning. We were joking among ourselves, anyway it was morning why bother to go back home at midnight. Upon reaching the building, the security guard greeted me with a friendly smile & asked, "No lorry today?" Wow, he knew that I'm the one whom travelled to work by lorry & most probably I'm the only one alighted at the lobby from a lorry every morning. I told him, "no, no lorry today, want lorry must come early" - his simple question has brightened my day & I wore a smile while entering the lift. Isn't it good that someone do know things about you?

It is kind of my habit to greet the security guard every morning where I feel it is kind of hard work for them to stand near the entrance ensuring that everyone comes in with a badge. Last week, another guard greeted me with a smile & said, "Wow, today so early". I was shocked & true enough I'm early that day reaching office at about 8.10am. I told him, "ya, my child went to school early today". Another smiling face ...

In fact, life is so much better with these kind gestures!!!

There was this guard whom has a fierce look & I started to say "goodbye" to him whenever I see him in the evening & in fact he returned by saying "goodbye" to me with a smile. He would have felt the same way as I do too (existences)!!! Then one day, he probably has a haircut & shaved away his moustache... wow he looked fresh & great when I see him in the morning but I was too stunned to comment on that except a simple "good morning". So that same evening, I told him "good, handsome" with my thumbup & I can see a wide (shy) smile on his face... GREAT!!!

Life can be boring at times & everyone are tired after a day's work & might not noticed the changes that have taken place around us. Why don't we slow down our pace & look around... ... perhaps cheer someone up by praising them or show them that you do notice their changes.

(Btw, when I told my colleagues about the above, they laughed, "you really recognise every security guards? I only know there is one guard there & I only show them my badge"... ... give up!)

Farm Visit - dream on

Supposed to visit the goat & vegetable farms last Saturday (an outing organised by the Company I'm working with) but as I have asked mum to take care of my kids last Saturday in order for me to attend talks organised by the School & I will need her help again this weekend as I would have to work on Saturday & Sunday (till 2359 again!!!) due to quarterend support. Furthermore, we have to reach Kranji MRT (meeting point) at 8am for the farm visit, which would mean we will have to leave home at 6am & waking up at about 5am... OMG, I have to forgo the 4 tickets which I have balloted for.

Clement went & he told me that it is very educational & informative, I can see from his expression & description that he has enjoyed the trip despite the hot sun. I wanted to go so badly as I have not visited any Singapore farms (you can call me mountain tortoise, I would admit I'm one) & I really wish I can grab this "free" chance of going but ... ...

Really envy my kids, all of them have been to the goat & vegetable farms, except me (maybe LG also, I'm not alone). You get to go to these places when you are in childcare & school, I missed those days as both of my parents were working when I was young & I only get to visit places of interest when the school organised these.

I want to go!!! Maybe should ask LG to bring us there one of these days...

Water babies

I seen my kids' schoolmates staring into plastic containers containing some water & finally I get to see what exactly are water babies. Johnson told me that water babies are supposed to be plant fertilisers, anyway I do not know why Nickson get this, perhaps for the fun of it, seeing round round balls within a bottle.

Too efficient???

Today is the 3rd day taking over the superuser role, tried my very best to complete the requests within the day & was told by one of my colleague yesterday that I worked too fast & spoil the market.

Again, the same thing happened. I managed to complete the request within an hour's time & 2 of my colleagues came to tell me that I did it too quickly & I'll be dead during the monthend or quarterend rush (yes, I acknowledged that this is true). OMG, I was in dilemma ... ... should I slow down my work???

I have explained to them that I hated to keep things till the next day unless the day is overwhelming (whereby the standard turnaround time is 3 working days), what if more requests flowed in the next day, then the "next day work" will then accumulated to the following day & there will be neverending "next day" which I hated. I really appreciated your kindness in telling me this & I will try my very best to "space out" the work!!!

Be Positive!!! Be Yourself!!! Jiayou jiayou!!!

Mum's Checkup at CGH

Mum went for her checkup, was told that the "air bubble" in her kidney was benign & no action was required except for an ultrasound next year. What a relieve!!!

Kidz@Work

Kidz@Work - we can bring our children to the office & let them know more about their mummy/daddy working environment.

Brought my kids to the office & left them with the organisers for the welcome speech. Picked them up at 10am & they were supposed to shadow me at my workstation but I got them to play their duel monster cards at my colleague's cubicle cos he was on leave & they seemed to enjoy themselves. Each of them was given a goodie bag with pencil case, magic ink & a bottle of mineral water.

From 11.30am till 5.30pm, they were at the auditorium for games, activities & sightseeing within the 2 office buildings. They were given McDonald's happy meal as lunch & complained that the games were lame & boring as compared to computer games. Hiaz, they were too addicted to the computer games & found that traditional/interaction games were too boring.

One of the most interesting thing that made the kids (including my colleagues' children) happy in the office was the Vending machine cos there was free flow of milo which most kids loved!!! - no wonder the supply ran out so fast for the day...

Count my blessings

We were asked if we would like to purchase tickets for the Graduation Concert on 5 Dec 2007, it was kind of sad & I stated "we will be withdrawing Allyson from the childcare centre wef 1 Dec 2007" on the form & attached my cheque payment for the class photograph.

I believed the teacher was shocked to see this & the Centre Manager called me in the afternoon to check what was the reason of the withdrawal. I told her, I have registered Allyson for PCF next year & also due to budget issue whereby I couldn't allow her to continue with the childcare centre.

This morning, the Centre directors caught hold of me & we discussed about the above. They were kind enough to listen to my reasonings & offered to help. I really appreciated their kind act & glad that Allyson can continue with Carpe Diem & I believed she will have a fruitful trip staying with them. Sometimes I really disappointed with myself (limited vocab), I couldn't say more but only "thank you thank you" & "thank you" during the discussion.

I told myself I'll pray for health & peace to those whom have helped & warmed my hearts in return for the kindness they have showered upon me.

More like a Childcare Centre

My mum was very impressed by the paintings outside the childcare centre, she told me : "Now, it looks more like a childcare centre, last time, empty empty one (referring to the walls)."

In fact, my whole family were impressed by the paintings, it is a piece of art!!!
Allyson with Sifu Gan (the artist). --->

Allyson's birthday

Ordered this Barbie Princess cupcake from Prima Deli's for Allyson's birthday, she was so excited this morning when I told her the cake will be delivered to school between 9.30am - 12.30pm. She told me, "Mummy, you ask the uncle don't send first, I see if my friends are good today. If yes, then I let them eat the cake." Isn't she cute??? She sounded like a teacher.

We were at the Centre at 3pm & the kids were awake from their afternoon nap.

The teachers helped in the setting of the birthday party & I was glad to see that Allyson was smiling widely throughout the celebration & the children enjoyed the cake.

P.S. Initially I was worried there wouldn't be enough cupcakes (only 24pcs) to go about, but luckily, it was enough for all teachers & children in Allyson's class & some kids managed to eat 2 too. I knew Cynthia will laugh at me being such a "stingy" mum but I really find this "cupcake" is something special.

Happy Teacher's Day

It doesn't seemed to be a norm for my kids to give presents to their teachers on Teacher's Day, they are giving me the impressions that Teachers are people who torture them during school hours & giving them tons of homeworks. I have explained to them that teachers are professionals whom would mould us into useful adults by imparting their knowledge & making sure that we are on the right track but this doesn't seem to go into my kids' mind. Or is it true that good teachers are hard to find these days? I don't think so, cos Randson decided to get a pink teddy bear for his Chinese teacher.

Nickson's English teacher was hospitalised due to an accident & he wished to give her something when she is back to school cos she did not attend the Teacher's Day celebration. Bought this brown bear at Tampines Interchange & hope that she get well soon.

While in the afternoon, we were busy preparing goodie bags for Allyson's birthday party on Monday.
